Welcome to my nursery! Fresh Wilds is a native plant nursery specializing in non-cultivar straight species. As part of the Sandhills area, I want to offer species that are unique to this area as well as species that can be found in a broader range of NC. Keep checking back for updates on new species!
If you're wondering why go native, here are a few reasons to get you started.
-Having a diverse range of native species supports our ecosystem and a plethora of pollinators and other wildlife. Many of the plants here at Fresh Wilds are grown from seed sourced right here in NC, contributing to species diversity.
-Gardening with native plants also reduces maintenance. Plants that are adapted to our soils and environment don't require irrigation or fertilizers. Once established, they will do the rest!
-Use of harmful pesticides can be avoided with native plants because we want to promote insect diversity, not eradication.
-Native plants can also help with erosion control. Most of our native species' roots run deep which holds the soil even on steep slopes.
-Finally, utilizing a diverse range of native plants provides beauty and an appealing landscape. Native plants are beautiful and each one is unique.
Changes are coming this year to Fresh Wilds! This spring I will be selling my native plants at Green Haven Plant Farm in Carthage. Green Haven is open Monday - Saturday, 8am - 5pm beginning in March. I will also be there to help you in choosing your natives. Feel free to call, text, or email with any questions.

Hi, my name is Suzana. Growing up in the rural heart of North Carolina I have always had a love for the outdoors. Once my daughter was older, I pursued a Conservation Biology degree at North Carolina State University. Not only did this spur my growing love for plants but gave me an understanding of the importance of native plants in the landscape. The most amazing idea I learned is that you can manipulate the vegetative landscape to suit different wildlife species, according to their requirements.
After college I worked with the Wildlife Resources Commission as an Aquatic Wildlife Diversity tech and spent most days immersed in our native woodlands. I took this opportunity to learn about many native plants in their natural habitat as well as identifying nonnatives and invasives.
With these experiences creating the foundation, I dove into my current passion, researching and propagating native plants with a focus on non-cultivar, straight species. In 2024, I established Fresh Wilds LLC and thoroughly enjoy guiding others in the importance of incorporating native plant species into the landscape.
